Attempt at aphorism...

Philosophers have answers to problems that people do not have. And the finest mark of a teacher of philosophy is his ability to create problems for people who didn’t have problems to begin with.

No! This is standard wisdom. The true enigmas are answers without questions. Philosophers don't provide answers to questions. We have the answers: reality. Philosophers' duty is to provide the horizon of meaning.

Obviously, I agree. Equally obvious, however, you don't teach philosophy: People are utterly unconcerned with how the mental is related to the physical or with how a symbol might mean something to begin with. And it is the (daily academic) job of a philosopher to make this seem problematic.

well, i like my aphorisms unqualified if they are to qualify as aphorisms, so to speak...
